Crossing Souls is an action-packed, RPG adventure game with five school kids thrown in as protagonists.
The game is set in 1986 California wherein Matt, Chris, Big Joe, Charlie and Kevin find a mysterious stone that facilitates transportation between two realities. This adventure ride leads up to the friends getting embroiled in a state conspiracy. As a player, you are supposed to fight and solve the puzzles the kids encounter en-route, thereby helping them save their families. These kids have special skills that you can capitalise on. In fact, each character has got a unique skill and combat style. These skills can be put into play during real-time combats, to beat mighty bosses, solve various puzzles, and play special 80’s arcade video games-inspired levels. With every progress made, you would be able to unlock new abilities and items that would come in handy during the adventure.
The game has been in the works for more than 3 years and should see the light of the day early 2018. The game has had its fair share of references, with quite a few aspects directly inspired from ‘80s arcade games. Crossing Souls has an adventurous heart, but it also provides a fine blend of puzzles and combat, leveraging the characters’ unique abilities. The soundtrack comprises radical synth-pop, which again has taken inspiration from John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith’s works.
